QNAP Expands D525 Atom NAS Family

QNAP has added an eight-bay member to its D525 Atom NAS line.

The TS-859 Pro+ Turbo NAS uses a 1.8 GHz D525 dual-core Intel Atom CPU with 1GB RAM with read performance spec’d at 116 MB/s.

The new NAS runs V3.3 of QNAP’s NAS operating system, which is certified VMware Ready, Citrix Ready and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V clusters compliant.

Features include iSCSI initiator and target service, 2.5 and 3.5" SATA drive support and RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, and 6+ hot spare volumes with online RAID capacity expansion, online RAID level migration, and RAID recovery

The TS-859 Pro+ starts shipping this month at an MSRP of $1,579.

Thecus Technololgy recently introduced its 1U4500 Rackmount Storage Device. The 1U4500 is a four-drive SATA NAS supporting up to RAID 10 in a a 1U rackmount form factor.

The new NAS is powered by an ultra-low voltage 1.5GHz Intel Celeron M processor with 512MB of DDR memory. Features include four hot-swappable hard disk trays that accept standard 3.5” SATAII hard disks for up to 3 TB of storage, eSATA port, LCD status display, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD support and dual gigabit Ethernet ports with 802.3ad-based Load Balancing and Failover capabilities.
