QNAP Says New i3 NASes Are Coming

QNAP logoQNAP has a new Intel i3-based NAS line in the works.

The company announced its TS-X70 series of NASes today at Computex, Taipei. The announcement was short on details other than the new line is powered by Intel i3 processors and will come in 4, 6 and 8 bay versions and support an optional 10 GbE card.

The new NASes will run QNAP’s new QTS 4.0 OS, which QNAP revealed a few more media features about, namely on-the-fly video transcoding, integrated XBMC v12 and local video playback up to 4K resolution.

No pricing or expected availability was announced.
