The NAS uses an Intel CPU and has dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting load balancing, failover and 802.3ad link aggregation modes. It can also be used as direct-attached storage and supports multiple iSCSI volumes.

Other features include dual DOM (Disk On Memory), XFS, EXT3 and ZFS file systems (configurable per volume) and scheduled power on/off. The N5500 supports Thecus’ entire feature set including IP camera recording and iTunes, photo web and UPnP AV media servers.

The N5500 will be available by the end of this month at an MSRP of $869.
