Thecus Announces Next-Gen Rackmount NAS

Thecus has announced a next-generation four-bay rackmount combination NAS / DAS.

The 1U4600 Rackmount NAS Server runs on an Intel Celeron CPU with 1 GB of DDR RAM. Other hardware features include dual DOM (Disk On Memory), two Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports supporting auto-failover and aggregation, one eSATA port and five USB 2.0 host ports and a single USB 2.0 Target (B type) port. A 1U4600R version is also available, which includes a 250W redundant power supply.

The four 3.5" SATA drives can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD Ext3 / XFS / ZFS formatted volumes with online RAID level migration and RAID storage expansion supported. The 1U4600 can also be used as an iSCSI target and initiator or as attached storage via USB or eSATA connection.

The 1U4600 will be available in early March at an MSRP of $1,485.
