VIA Adds 8-Bay Rackmount Server

The VIA NSR7800 is a 2U rackmount server aimed at NAS OEMs. It is powered by a 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor and has eight 3.5" S-ATA II hard drive bays, dual PCIe-based Gigabit LAN ports and a bootable Compact Flash Type 1 socket. It can be configured with up to 1 GB of DDR2 memory.

Other features include dual SATA controllers, hot-swap drive support, VGA port and two USB 2.0 ports. There is also a mini-PCI port to support optional add-in modules.

The VIA NSR7800 supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2007, Windows Home Server and Linux. System monitoring and management includes a TPM module, Wake-on-LAN, Wake-on-Alarm and Watch Dog Timer.

Pricing and availability were not announced.
