VIA Announces 8 Bay Barebones NAS

The VIA NSD7800 is powered by a 1.5GHz VIA C7-D processor, measures 13.4" x 13.4" x 5.9" (34cm x 34cm x 15cm) and has eight 3.5" drive bays.

VIA says the product is "fully compatible" with Microsoft Windows Home Server. A maximum of 1 GB of DDR2 400/533/667 RAM can be loaded into the single DIMM socket.

One VIA VT6130 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet port is on board and there is support for an optional second LAN port. Four USB 2.0 ports support additional storage and there is a bootable Compact Flash type 1 slot and one mini-PCI card slot.

The NSD7800 supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2007, Windows Home Server and Linux. System monitoring and management includes Wake-on-LAN, Wake-on-Alarm and Watch Dog Timer.

Pricing and availability were not announced for the NSD7800.
