Synology has added a "budget-friendly" four-bay NAS.
The DS416j is based on a dual-core Marvell Armada 38X (88F6828) with hardware encryption and FPU and 512 MB of DDR3 RAM. Synology specs RAID 5 performance over 112 MB/sec read and 101 MB/sec write.
Network connection is via a single Gigabit Ethernet port and expansion provided by one each USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The four bays support 2.5" and 3.5" hard and solid state drives configurable in multiple Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR), Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10 volumes.
Synology DiskStation DS416j
The DS416j runs Synology's full DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, with an extensive feature set including cloud and local backup, DLNA media serving, easy remote access via web browser or Android and iOS apps. More features can be downloaded from Synology's DSM Package Center.
