BlackBerry PlayBookForget the rumors you may have read about RIM’s alleged tethering restrictions for the company’s long-awaited PlayBook tablet.

That’s right - the PlayBook is expected to happily tether with a number of smartphones via Blueooth and will not require a BlackBerry device.

According to Nicole Scott of Netbook News, the confusion surrounding the PlayBook tethering issue can be attributed to a misunderstanding over the nature of RIM’s BlackBerry’s Bridge.

Bridge allows PlayBook users to easily access (BlackBerry) email, calendar and contacts. However, this is obviously very different than tethering.

Want to learn how tether your PlayBook?

A full-length tutorial can be viewed on CrackBerry. But please note there are three critical steps to follow before kicking off the tethering process:

* The wireless service plan of the device must support tethering
* The device must be compatible with Bluetooth technology
* Bluetooth DUN must be enabled
