LifeSize has introduced a cloud-based HD video bridge service.

LifeSize Connections bridges LifeSize video conferencing systems to desktop users on Windows or Mac OS computers.

Users can have any contact join them in Connections as a guest, for free, by sending a download link and guest registration.

Connections features nine-way 720p / 30 fps HD video bridging, data encryption and management. It automatically configures endpoints and software clients to traverse firewalls.

The service is expected to launch in 3Q11. Desktop client pricing is $30/user/month and the endpoint for the LifeSize system is $100/room/month.

In related news, Logitech announced the acquisition of Mirial, a Milan-based leading provider of personal and mobile video conferencing solutions. Mirial supports a broad range of iOS and Android devices and Windows and Mac OS softphone clients are also available.

Also announced was LifeSize Passport Connect, its lowest cost HD videoconferencing system. Passport Connect is expected out in 3Q2011 for $1,499 or $999 with the purchase of a one-year subscription to LifeSize Connections
