ZyXEL Announces New VPN Routers, UTM Appliance

ZyXEL today announced two new business-class VPN routers and a new Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliance.

The USG20 firewall / VPN gateway is spec’d for 100 Mbps firewall and 30 Mbps VPN performance.

Features include one Gigabit Ethernet WAN and four switched Gigabit LAN ports, hybrid IPSec and SSL VPN, 3G back-up support, bandwidth management, "user-aware" policy management and subscription-based content filtering from BlueCoat.

It is also available as the USG20W with an integrated 802.11a/b/n wireless access point.

The USG50 is a UTM appliance that includes the USG20’s routing and VPN feature set with performance spec’d at 100 Mbps firewall and 50 Mbps VPN. In addition to BlueCoat content filtering, the USG50 supports subscription-based anti-virus from ZyXEL or Kaspersky, and intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) from ZyXEL.

ZyXEL’s pricing model includes no per-user licensing and free firmware upgrades for the life of the product.

The USG20, USG20W and USG50 will be available later this month at MSRPs of $249.99, $299.99 and $349.99, respectively.
