Buffalo Technology has announced a new single-band 802.11n router.
The WHR-HP-G300N Nfiniti Wireless-N Essential Router & Access Point is a dual-stream, 2 X 2 single band router with a four-port 10/100 switch. It supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup, Buffalo’s proprietary AOSS and WEP, WPA and WPA2 wireless security and WDS bridging and repeating.
The router will be available this month at an MSRP of $69.99.
The IEEE Standards Board today approved the 802.11n Standard for Enhancements for Higher Throughput.
TRENDnet says three of its 802.11ac routers can now be flashed with DD-WRT.
The triple play is the convergence of data, voice, and television (IPTV) across a single pipe: Wi-Fi's in-home dominance of data and increasingly voice and IPTV (with proprietary extensions) will be challenged, ABI Research says, by the latest versions of three standards that work over coax, electrical wiring, and phone wiring. ABI Research says that by 2011, over 45 million gateways will offer wired-based distribution of data, voice, and video. (The quadruple play, by the way, adds mobile voice.)
