NETGEAR today announced four new wireless and wired network infrastructure products, new NAS line and a VoIP partnership.

The NETGEAR ProSafe Smart Wireless Switch (WFS709TP) is a wireless controller supporting up to 16 wireless access points and 256 users per switch. Roaming is supported across multiple access points without the need to re-associate and re-authenticate with access points as they move from location to location.

The WFS709TP integrates RF management and planning capabilities including automatic self-configuration of transmit power level, channel, load balancing and interference avoidance. The switch also incorporates enterprise-class security features including RADIUS and AAA Server support.

APs supported include Netgear's ProSafe 802.11g Light Wireless Access Point (WGL102), ProSafe Dual Band Light Wireless Access Point (WAGL102) and existing NETGEAR WG102 and WAG102 wireless access points via a one-time firmware update. The WFS709TP will be available in Q3 2007 for $2,900 MSRP.

Switch introductions include the ProSafe 24 and 48-Port 10/100/1000 Smart PoE Switches (GS724TP and GS748TP), which incorporate 24 10/100/1000 ports / two SFP slots and 48 10/100/1000 ports / four SFP slots, respectively.

Both switches support 802.1p and DSCP-based prioritization, access control lists, rate limiting, DSCP/TOS-based prioritization, IGMP snooping, SNMP v1, v2, v3, and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol. Both switches are currently available at MSRPs of $1,000 and $2,000, respectively.

Netgear also announced the low-cost GS108T ProSafe 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch. The GS108T supports browser-based management for features including port configuration, trunking,VLANs and traffic prioritization. Other features include ACLs, 802.1x port authentication, enhanced QoS, rate limiting and IGMP snooping.The GS108T is currently available for $190 MSRP.

Netgear also rolled out its line of RAID NASes from its recent purchase of Infrant Technologies. Models include three desktop ReadyNAS NV+ versions, pre-configured with hard drives to provide 1TB or 2TB of storage capacity (RND4425, RND4450, RND4250) and two rackmount ReadyNAS 1100 models, pre-configured to provide storage capacities of 2TB and 3TB (RNR4450, RNR4475).

All the NASes feature four hot-swappable SATA drives, RAID 0, 1, 5, and X-RAID formats, built-in backup manager, system monitoring and automatic alerts, gigabit Ethernet ports, UPnP AV multimedia server, HTTP/S remote access, FTP/S transfers, SSL and ACL security, and multiple USB ports. All models are available immediately.

The company also announced a partnership with Avaya, to define and deliver an IP telephony solution for small businesses with 20 users or less, and a firmware upgrade for its SSL312 SSL VPN Concentrator to support clients using Microsoft Windows Vista, Mozilla FireFox and Intel-based Mac OS. The new firmware will be released on May 25.
