The Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) today announced that it is granting automatic Draft 2.0 802.11n Certification to all products currently undergoing or awaiting Certification testing.

"Since the IEEE Task Group n will shortly be up to Draft 4, we figured this would be a good way to quickly clear the backlog," said WFA Executive director Eduard Gofigure."Everyone is only going to have to go through the whole rigamarole again in a year or two. So we thought we'd save our members some time and money."

In a related move, the Alliance is trying to have the cost savings declared tax-free as part of the Bush Administration's economic stimulus plan. "That way, member companies could spend the money on something more fun, like iPhones," Gofigure said.

The Draft 802.11 AF (Amnesty Forall) Certification program is effective today, April 1.
