Seven Scale has gone public with its Papertrail cloud-based log service.

The service is said to work with "all common log methods and formats", including syslog, text log, Apache, MySQL, Ruby, Windows event logs and more.

All logs are aggregated into a searchable, scalable repository accessible from any web browser. Command line and web API access is also provided.

The service is especially suited to receiving logs from other cloud applications, which may be distributed among many servers and employ multiple services. Papertrail can present operating system logs, app server requests, database queries, and router logs in one live interface.

Monthly plans range from $7 for 1 GB of logs, one week search depth and one year archive for three users to $225 for 16 GB of logs, two week search depth, two year archive and unlimited users. Custom plans and a seven day free trial are also available.

Seven Scale previously created Cloudvox, a hosted API for controlling telephone calls.
