Thecus Expands 10GbE NAS Offerings

Thecus announced two NASes with built-in 10GbE.

The 7-bay N7770-10G desktop tower and 8-bay N8880-10G rackmount NASes are powered by 3.3 GHz dual-core Intel Core i3-2120 CPUs with 8 GB of DDR3 ECC RAM that’s expandable to 32 GB total. Both come with a single 10GBase-T (copper) port and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports built in.

Each also has six USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 and one HDMI ports. The N8880-10G has a redundant power supply option.

Hot-swappable bays support SATA III 2.5" or 3.5" drives that can be configured into multiple ext3, ext4, Btrfs and XFS formatted RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 or JBOD volumes with optional AES-256 bit encryption.

Both NASes run Thecus’ V5 OS with features including High Availability, built-in McAfee antivirus protection, dynamic volume expansion and Snapshot backup (requires btrfs volume). The Thecus App Center also offers over 700 apps for data backup, content management, multi-media and more.

The N7770-10G and N8880-10G will be available shortly at MSRPs of $1149 and $1899, respectively.
