Data Robotics has announced a networked version of its DroboPro attached storage appliance.

The DroboPro FS is an 8 bay version of the Drobo FS that was introduced in April. It uses Data Robotics’ BeyondRAID technology that allows for easy storage expansion, has the ability to incorporate different-capacity drives into a storage volume and protects against failure of up to two drives. The Pro FS also employs "self healing" technology that continuously examines data blocks and sectors on each drive to flag potential issues.

The Pro FS has dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover capability, eight bays for 3.5" SATA drives, but no eSATA or USB ports for external drive support. AFP and CIFS/SMB network file systems are supported, but not NFS.

DroboPro FS is shipping now for $1,999 MSRP with no drives up to to $3,299 MSRP for a 16TB bundle.
