NAS News

Thecus logoThecus has introduced a four-bay NAS that isn't Marvell or Intel-based.

The N4100EVO uses a 600 MHz dual-core Cavium ECONA CNS3420 SoC with 256 MB of RAM and has dual 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports and two USB 2.0 ports. The four hot-swappable bays accept 3.5" SATA drives that can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5 and JBOD using the XFS file system.

Thecus says that the Cavium processor includes a dedicated XOR engine " to speed up all RAID 5 computations" and volume rebuilds.

The N4100EVO will start shipping next week with a $385 MSRP.
