HP Slips Out Updated MediaSmart Servers

The MediaSmart EX495 comes with an Intel Pentium E5200 2.5 GHz 64-bit Dual Core processor one of its four drive bays populated with a single 1.5 TB SATA drive. The MediaSmart EX490 sports an Intel Celeron 450 2.2 GHz 64-bit processor and one 1 TB drive. Both come equipped with 2 GB of DDR2 RAM and are physically identical to the currently-available EX485 and EX487.

New software features include a "refined" user interface with web-based home page, remote photo, music and video access from iPhones and iPod Touches and a new video converter with custom settings and profiles that will automatically convert video libraries, including unprotected DVDs.

New Mac OS features include administration, media collection and a new disc recovery utility providing bare metal recovery on a Mac using Time Machine.

The new MediaSmarts will be available "soon" at MSRPs of $699 for the EX495 and $549 for the EX490.
