QNAP Announces 3 TB Drive Support

QNAP has announced support for 3 TB drives for many of its NASes.

The company said that Hitachi (Deskstar7K3000 HDS723030ALA640) and Seagate (Barracuda XT ST33000651AS) 3 TB hard drives are "fully supported" via upgrade to V3.4.0 firmware.

Models that can now accept 3 TB drives include Intel Atom based TS-x59 Pro+ and TS-x39 Pro II + models and the Marvell-based TS-x19P+ series.

Iomega adds rackmount Terabyte RAID NAS

Iomega today announced a new rack-mount addition to its NAS product line. The new Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r series is based on Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 running on a Dual-Core Intel Xeon hardware platform packaged in a 1U rackmount format.

Four hot-swappable 7200-RPM SATA II drives can be configured for RAID 0, 1 or 5 and other hardware features include dual gigabit Ethernet connections, ECC memory, and an Ultra 320 SCSI (VHDC1) connection for high-speed archival backup. 250 and 500 GB drives are supported for a total of 1 or 2 GB of storage.
