Thecus Announces USB 3.0 DAS, Adapter, NAS Upgrades

Thecus introduced a dual-bay USB 3.0 drive and adapter card today.

The D0204 accepts two hot-swappable 2.5" SATA drives, configurable in RAID 0 and 1. Setup requires a Windows utility.

Thecus also announced its CU30N USB 3.0 Host Bus Adapter. It’s a full-height PCIe card using NEC’s uPD720200 compatible with PCI Express x1, x4, x8 and x16 slots providing two USB 3.0 ports.

The adapter can also be used to add USB 3.0 ports to Thecus’ N4200, N7700 and N8800 series NASes, making them the first network storage products to support USB 3.0 external drives.

The D0204 and CU30N will both be available by the end of July at MSRP’s of $170 and $35, respectively.
