TrustedSource provides behavior-based reputation scores for IPs, domains, URLs

and email messages. Using this real-time scoring, SnapGear with TrustedSource allows organizations to drop connections from malicious sources at the gateway to help prevent security threats such as spam and phishing, reclaim bandwidth and reduce downstream server processing.

The SnapGear appliance line is available immediately starting at $249 MSRP. For a limited time, all SnapGear customers are eligible to receive a six-month trial license for SnapGear with TrustedSource at no additional cost.

Nmap getting SNORTed

Open source innovator and SNORT creator, Sourcefire, Inc., and Insecure.Org, the creator of the Nmap Security Scanner, today announced a licensing agreement for the parties to jointly develop open source vulnerability scanning technology based on the general purpose Nmap Scripting Engine (NSE) embedded within the Nmap network discovery tool.

Under the agreement, Insecure.Org will develop the engine while the Sourcefire Vulnerability Research Team (VRT) will develop and contribute plug-ins for discovering specific vulnerabilities.
