WD Expands WD TV Lineup

WD logoWD has announced a $70 media streamer that also supports local content play.

The WD TV Play streams Internet content from YouTube, Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU, SlingPlayer, Spotify, Pandora and Facebook, as well as other services.

Unlike many other streaming media players, WD TV Play also supports playback of photos, music and videos from DLNA servers or USB-connected sources. This is possible due to the Play’s wider format support shown below. Playback is supported at resolutions up to 1080p.

Network connection is via 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11bgn Wi-Fi. Other ports include HDMI, composite A/V and optical audio. The non-backlit IR remote includes pre-programmed buttons for easy access to Netflix, Hulu plus and VuDu. The Play can also be controlled via iOS and Android WD TV Remote apps.

Gizmo Project adds Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live free calling

SIPphone today announced the launch of its latest desktop VoIP product. Gizmo Project 3.0 adds "meta-voice" capabilities, which enable free calling to Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live users.

The new capabilities allow users to call four of the most popular voice and IM networks with one client for the first time. All calls to Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live, Google Talk, Jabber, and Gizmo Project users are free. Gizmo Project 3.0 users can also call international Yahoo Messenger users for free in France, Spain, and many other countries.
