Multi-Tech Announces Secure SMB Wi-Fi VPN Router

Multi-Tech Systems today announced two wireless routers with PPTP/IPsec VPN endpoint capability. The new RouteFinder SOHO Security Appliances are aimed at branch offices that need secure access to a corporate LAN while providing the convenience of Wi-Fi.

The new appliances combine a stateful packet inspection firewall supporting up to 15 client-to-LAN or LAN-to-LAN IPSec or PPTP VPN tunnels and 3DES / AES encryption with an 802.11b/g Wi-Fi router. Other features include browser-based management, syslog support and built-in 4 port 10/100 switch.

ZyXEL adds SSL VPN Appliance, 3G router

ZyXEL today added an SSL gateway and mobile broadband router to its ZyWALL security product line.

The ZyWALL SSL-10 is an integrated SSL-VPN and Firewall appliance supporting 10 sessions in its base configuration and upgradeable to 25 sessions. Users have access to shared network resources through a single web page with user rights defined by login ID.

The product provides a customizable web portal that users can access through a standard Web browser to easily and securely access e-mail, applications, web servers and other resources on the remote network.

Microsoft has included an IPsec client in Win 2000 and XP, but it is not the most intuitive thing to configure, and many have given up trying in frustration.
