D-Link announces small-biz draft 802.11n APs

The DAP-2590 and DAP-2553 AirPremier N Dual Band Access Points are single radio APs rated for Plenum and non-Plenum use respectively. Both have integrated 802.3af PoE support and upgradeable antennas.

The APs feature multiple modes, including AP, Wireless Distribution System (WDS), WDS with AP, and Wireless Client. Both also include advanced features such as Load Balancing and Spanning Tree Protocol.

Wireless security features include Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2, Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP), MAC Address Filtering, Wireless LAN Segmentation, Disable SSID Broadcast, Rogue AP Detection, and Wireless Broadcast Scheduling.

Included at no charge is D-Link’s AP Manager II software that allows management across subnet boundaries.

The DAP-2590 is available now at an MSRP of $409.99. The DAP-2553 will ship in Q4 08 at an MSRP of $179.99.

Atheros Communications today announced the Atheros AR5007EG - a 802.11g PCI Express (PCIe) device that includes both low noise amplifier (LNA) and power amplifier (PA), in a low-cost, single-chip digital CMOS design.

The device is targeted at lowering the cost of adding 802.11b/g wireless connectivity to both notebook and desktop PCs.
