QNAP recently announced an 8 bay rackmount NAS.
The TS-859U-RP Business Series Turbo NAS server enclosure, is a 2U rack-mounted NAS with 8 bays for hot-swappable 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard disk drives.
The hardware platform is based on an 1.66GHz dual-core Intel Atom D510 CPU with 1 GB of DDRII RAM. Other hardware features include a redundant power-supply, dual Gigabit LAN ports supporting failover, load-balancing, link aggregation and multiple networks, dual OS DOM (disk on module), four USB 2.0 and two eSATA ports.
Volume formats include single drive, JBOD, RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ hot spare/6+ hot spare with online RAID capacity expansion and online RAID level migration.
The NAS runs version 3.2 of QNAP's OS with features including VMware vSphere4 (ESX 4.0) compatibility, iSCSI with SPC-3 Persistent Reservation, MPIO and MC/S support, DFS, IPv6, WebDAV and Apple Time Machine backup.
The TS-859U-RP is available now with pricing just under $1,900.
