Apologies to those of you who have been trying to find the new Router and NAS charts. The new charts have different URLs and I thought I had forwarding working for all of the old versions of the URLs. But apparently I didn't.
So this morning I spent some quality time with mod_rewrite and things should be working fine now. If you for some reason hit a chart link and don't get the chart, send me the bad URL and I'll get it fixed.
On another topic, I've started to put up a few slideshows and am thinking of doing more, but have mixed feelings. On one hand, they tend to be well-viewed and help drive up page view counts, which advertisers like (and which helps to pay the bills). But to me, they seem like a poor substitute for well-written articles and an easy way out of doing real work.
The way I'm thinking of using them is to help streamline reviews. For example, a given company's various routers tend to have the same feature set and GUI. So instead of sending you to an earlier review of a product with similar features, I could build a slideshow tour of admin screens and let you flip through it. Two examples of this method are in the recent Buffalo nFiniti dual-band router review [slideshow here] and the LaCie Ethernet Big Disk reviews [slideshow here].
As I said, I'm thinking of doing more of this, but would like to hear your thoughts. Drop me a line and let me know. Thanks!
